Sustainable Fabrics

Textile waste globally is a huge issue, the world of fast fashion, manufacturing of mass synthetic materials is creating a throw away mindset.

Globally 92 Million tonnes of textile waste is created each year and this is projected to become 134 Million by 2030!

When we very first Started The Sausage Pit, in the early days we used to buy end rolls of fabric from a few contacts we had, making just a few beds. As we grew bigger we needed fabrics on a much bigger scale and we started to forget about the small end rolls. However the more i have thought about it, end rolls are a waste product from textile mills where there isnt enough fabric on the roll to upholster sofas etc, and therefore these few Ms of fabric would end up in landfill.

In September 2022 we decided to bring them back to our current collections and listing the fabrics as Sustainable in the item description. By doing this we are 1) helping the environment 2) you are getting top quality fabrics that are not for sale to anyone but huge textile mills, these are generally on trend fabrics & you could find one to match your sofa! 3) we are able to offer the sustainable fabric Snuggle Beds at a lower price, as we buy in for a fraction of the cost.

We work with several key contacts & Textile Mills across the UK using up these end rolls.

The Sustainable fabrics can be found in our regular Snuggle bed page & also in the Mystery Snuggle bed item. Sustainable fabrics could change at any point as we run out of stock and replenish with a different fabric.

We are still only a very small business in comparison, but if we could all make just one small change to begin with then im sure we can all make a big impact together.
